While jogging in bright sunlight, the Series 9 was much easier to see, which we found to be a small but significant improvement over the Series 8.
The Apple Watch Series 9 is powered by the new S9 chip, which has noticeably improved performance. Apps open faster and the overall experience is smoother. Another major improvement is Siri, which has been improved on the Series 9. It responds faster and more reliably, even without a strong internet connection. Setting timers and reminders is also much faster on the Series 9. The new ultra-wideband chip in Series 9 provides accurate iPhone search and AirTags.
The Series 8 still offers great performance, but without these improvements. It uses an older chip that still performs well, but not as fast as the S9.
